What We Do
Every garmet that comes through our studio gets the same thing: a real look, a real conversation, and work done right. Here’s how we can help.
We offer three services:
Formal & Everyday Alterations for what's already in your closet;
Custom Wearable Art for pieces that don't exist yet; and
Quick Fit Alterations & Mending for straightforward repairs that don't need a fitting appointment.

Formal & Everyday Alterations
Most clothes weren't made for your exact body — and that's not a you problem. Our Formal & Everyday Alterations provides a personal fitting for special events and the things already hanging in your closet: the pants that almost fit, the dress you love but can't zip, the jacket with sleeves 2 inches too long, or that bridesmaid’s dress that needs some attention.
We work with all garment types, fabrics and sizes. No job is too small. If it's in your wardrobe and it's not working, bring it in.
What's included:
Hems (pants, skirts, dresses, sleeves)
Taking in or letting out seams
Waistband and closure adjustments
Shoulder and neckline reshaping
Sleeve and cuff alterations
Lining repairs and replacements
Formal and bridal alterations

Custom Wearable Art
If you can imagine it, we can build it. Custom Wearable Art is our custom sewing service for pieces that don't yet exist — formal wear, special occasion garments, performance pieces, gender-affirming clothing, queer wedding attire, and anything else that deserves to be made exactly right.
Custom work starts with a conversation, not a measure. We want to know what you're wearing it for, how you want to feel in it, and what details matter most to you. Then we get to work.
Custom sewing is available for:
Formal and eveningwear
Queer and gender-affirming wedding attire
Performance and stage costumes

“I’ve worked with Molly Walz several times, and she’s brilliant. I’m not an easy fit, and too many tailors make that abundantly clear. The day Molly created costumes for me for a major musical production, everything changed — the clothing she designed made me feel beautiful. When I wear something Molly created, I feel radiant and I’m showered with compliments. No clothing off the rack ever fits me right — I’m 5 ft. tall, a small on the bottom and a large on top. Molly thrives on exactly this kind of challenge. She knows how to dress anyone. Her talents are limitless. Molly’s space is where clothing becomes art, and all those worries disappear.”
Ready when you are
You've seen what we do. Pick a service, tell us what you're working with, and we'll get you on the schedule.
Note: A photo or document (JPG, PNG, Word or PDF) can help us give you a more accurate estimate — but it's entirely optional.
A Note on Pricing
We don't quote over email — and here's why. Alterations are tactile. The same hem on a silk dress and a pair of denim jeans are completely different jobs. What a garment needs depends on the fabric, the construction, the fit issue and what you're trying to achieve.
We'd rather see it in person and give you a number you can count on than throw out a guess that doesn't hold.
Your fitting session is a dedicated hour with Molly — talking through your garment, your options, and what will work best for your body and your vision. This fee is separate from your alteration balance.
How It Works
We keep it simple. Click through the accordions below to learn what to expect from your first appointment to your finished garment.
-
Reach out by email with a quick description of the garment and what you're hoping to do with it. Not sure what service you need? That's fine — we'll help you figure it out.
-
Our Columbus studio is private and one-on-one. Bring the garment, bring the shoes if they matter, and come as you are. We'll assess the piece together, talk through your options, and give you a firm quote before anything starts.
-
You'll get a clear timeline upfront. We'll contact you when your piece is ready for pickup or a final fitting, depending on the project.
-
That's the whole point.
FAQs
Why can’t you give me a quote via email?
1
The short answer: clothes are tactile! We need to feel the garments and see them on your body to accurately estimate the work to be done.
Why do you charge a fitting fee?
2
As a tailor with a design background, I look at the whole picture. The goal is to spend up to an hour working through the details of fit and styling together. This fee compensates for the time spent in the actual fitting.
How long do alterations take?
3
This depends on the project and workload, but two weeks is a standard turnaround. We will always do our best to accommodate your timeframe.
What if I don’t want to go through with the alterations after the fitting?
4
This is exactly why the fitting fee exists. I only want to do what you’re excited about and comfortable with financially. At the end of the appointment, I will provide you with a full quote and timeline, and you can decide whether we should move forward.
